A radar detector is an electronic device that motorists can make use of, to detect if their vehicle speed is being monitored by a radar unit. This way, they can reduce their vehicle’s speed before being caught for speeding. Beltronics is a major player among manufacturers of radar detectors. In this post, we bring you reviews of some of the more popular Beltronics radar detectors.
Though priced above average, the Beltronics Pro RX65 is a solid radar detector, which features a good design, ease of user programming and threat detection. You can choose the interface range from a simple warning to a frequency display. While it is easy to use, the volume control is the problem with this device.
- Very good detection range
- Rather expensive, at $299
- Volume button is a problem
Vector 955 Radar/Laser Detector
The Beltronics Vector 955 has a good design and comes with many custom features and settings. A “dark” mode for providing extra level of discretion is the best feature of this radar detector. This provides an audible alert plus visual indicator that blinks to alert the driver to a threat. The mute button that the device includes only mutes the particular frequency that caused the threat, and so, this set is great for detecting multiple threats.
- Reasonably priced at $199
- Great performance
- Volume may be distorted in windy areas
- Could sometimes miss the K and KA bands
STi Driver Radar Detection
The Beltronics STi model offers great many features and works efficiently for the convenience of the person sitting behind the wheel. This device gives the least number of false alarms and is more or less accurate with its warnings. The STi is also good at detecting all bands of Radar and Laser monitors.
- Very efficient and accurate with warnings
- Least amount of false alarms
- Sometimes gives a false alarm that can unnecessarily distract the driver
V-940 Super-Wideband Detector with AutoScan
The V-940 is a Radar/Laser detector that works best on the open highway. It is quite a sensitive device that catches even the least bit of an alert. This device, though, may give more trouble in urban areas where motion detectors are used to monitor traffic. Still, this is very good for its price and offers the user good value for money.
- Efficient and quite accurate most of the time
- Almost as good as the RX65
- Reasonably priced at $199
- Gives false alerts in X and K Bands of urban areas
The Beltronics Pro GX65 uses GPS technology to completely prevent the occurrence of false alarms, including motion sensors, automatic door openers and other radar sensors. This set also comes with thousands of preloaded fixed position speed camera locations all through North America. The GX65 can also be updated on the PC, by connecting to the Internet. The database is updated on a weekly basis and updates are free for the first three months.
- Accurate, since it uses GPS technology
- Can be updated regularly
- Can be used all over North America
- Steeply priced at about $470
