The marriage between Nokia and Microsoft might materialize in the end. The two companies have sent invitations to an event scheduled for August 17 in Cologne, Germany, informs PC World.
Although the invitation did not provide clear details, most enthusiasts speculate the official debut of the first Nokia phone that runs on Windows Phone 7 platform.
Most likely, the event will host the disclosure of Sea Ray’s device, which Nokia CEO Stephen Elop has “unofficial” revealed at the end of June.
The first Nokia Windows phone could be unveiled on August 17. The time to make the big announcement could not have been chosen better. Windows Phone and Nokia are struggling to remain relevant in an industry run by iOS and Android.
Some studies have shown that Windows Phone 7 has lost popularity among consumers. But also Nokia didn’t do much better. Sales of Smartphone’s have fallen by a third in the second quarter of this year.
The launch of the first Nokia WP7 phone could be the beginning of a successful relationship for both companies. Shortly after the partnership Nokia/Microsoft was announced, analysts have predicted that Windows Phone will dethrone iOS and will get the second most popular Smartphone platform in 2015.
