For the first time, a live TV service has been launched on a smartphone budget carrier MetroPCS has made a deal with Dyle mobile TV to broadcast on the Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G LTE available from the MetroPCS. The service will be bundled in with the regular MetroPCS plan. However, the Dyle mobile service has limited coverage as of now.
Dyle Mobile TV
With Dyle, you can access local and national news channels, sports and others including ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, Qubo, Univision, and Telemundo. The unique thing here is that you will not be using your 3G or 4G data connection a separate frequency band is used for the mobile TV service. It sure requires data connection to update the program guide repeatedly. So do not worry that it will eat up your data limit.
The Lightray is priced at $459 excluding taxes at the MetroPCS store. It runs on a 1 GHz processor, and the Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform is installed on the device. The device sports a rear 8MP camera and a front facing 1.3MP camera. Another attractive feature you are going to get is the support for 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot this is also a first for MetroPCS gadgets.
