The follow-up to the much acclaimed Motorola Photon 4G, the Photon Q, will be launched by Sprint well soon. The QWERTY Android smartphone has a slide-out 4.3-inch screen that is being said as the largest screen available on a QWERTY smartphone. Meanwhile, the Sprint 4G LTE network has been expanded to 15 cities and full coverage may be only possible at the end of 2013.
The Photon Q gadgets are loaded with a 1.5 GHz dual core processor and runs on the updated Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich platform. It will also include a primary rear 8MP camera with 1080p HD video recording capabilities and a front facing HD cam for video calls. A slide-out 4.3-inch screen with the ColorBoost touchscreen will reveal a 5 row QWERTY keyboard.
The Photon Q will be the first handset to feature the free Motorola app called SmartActions, which will automate routine activities and extend your battery life. For instance, it can automatically switch to silent mode when on a meeting or lower the screen display when battery is low. Business users will also be happy with the NFC facility and security essentials like remote wipe, data encryption and pin lock.
