If you haven’t already know, Mozilla has been doing a lot of things and one of it is the mobile operating system called the Firefox OS. The project has been named Boot2Gecko and the company has been seeding the nightly builds of the operating system on its FTP server. Because of this, potential developers can see the continuous development that Mozilla is doing to it and one of the things that have been updated is its app store called the Firefox Marketplace.
The Firefox OS is different than Google’s ChromeOS where the latter is meant to be used for notebooks instead of mobile devices. It will probably compete with the likes of Android, iOS, BlackBerry OS and Windows Phone. However, it will appeal more to web developers as it will be a fully HTML 5 operating system.
With this being said and done, what you see right now isn’t going to reflect the final build of the operating system. It is still early in its development but based on what we are seeing right now, there are some very good things to expect out of the Firefox OS. It is expected for the company to launch the initial version of it sometime next year so you might want to wait for a little longer.
