News on the only BlackBerry tablet in the market has been scarce recently. However, we just got word that a new version of the BlackBerry PlayBook OS has been released. Although not in its final stages, the PlayBook OS is now available with the version 2.1 beta. This is definitely good use for the BlackBerry PlayBook owners which has been itching to get their hands on the new version of the operating system.
There is now portrait support for a few applications such as Email, Calendar, Contacts and a few other applications. In addition to that, the feature that most corporations have been looking forward to is now available. We are talking about the full device encryption which is a feature already present in the BlackBerry but not on its tablet variants.
Some other minor improvements were also added to the PlayBook OS 2.1 beta. You can also run multiple Android apps at the same time and in-app payments through the BlackBerry Payment SDK are also made available for developers. As of date, the product is still in its beta stages but you would definitely get the rough idea on what to expect on the final version of the BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.1.
