One of the bonanzas in store for gadgets world in the last week of October, 2014 is Asus’s hybrid device. This hybrid is a combination of tablet and smart phone. Asus is a Taiwan-based electronics company. The company is launching its product in the US on October 24, through AT&T.

The device, which is identified as PadPhone X Mini, mainly comes with a screen of 4.5 inches. However, this screen can be expanded to 7 inch one by sliding it into what is known as a companion dock, effectively converting it into a tablet. The tablet or companion dock is vertically oriented unlike some of the horizontally oriented tablets in the market. It cannot work without the accompanying smartphone. There are cameras included in the device. The primary one of these is of 5 megapixels. Its screen resolution is 2592 by 1944. It also comes with LED flash. The other camera is not so powerful; it is just 2 megapixel camera.

This 4G LTE smartphone would have Intel’s Atom Z2560 processor. It is an Android device, powered by 4.4KitKat. The battery life in this device varies. Therefore, it may last for 28.3 hours if it is in tablet mode or 15.8 hours if it is in smartphone mode. The device has a dual core processor with the speed of 1.6 GHz. The RAM in this device is 1 GB. In addition, there is 8 GB of flash storage included. The storage can be expanded to 64 GB because of microSD inclusion.
AT&T would be selling this twin device for $199.99. This is a reasonable price for the fused device, which will enable it to capture a sizeable market since this will also be the first time an LTE smartphone will be made available to Americans.
