Motherboards are plentiful in the market. There is the normal ATX board and the mini-ATX board but little of them cater specifically to Hi-Fi or home theatre PC. Biostar decided to add in a motherboard that is tuned specifically to this market and thus the Biostar Hi-Fi Z77X was born. What makes the Hi-Fi Z77X unique is that it comes with a 7.1-channel analog sound whereas most motherboard comes with only the stereo.
The Z77X makes use of the Intel Z77 chipset which means that it can be used for both Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge processors. This means that the motherboard opens up to a wide variety of processors that you can choose from. In addition to that, it has 4 DDR3 RAM slots which means that you can add up to 32GB worth of memory. This motherboard supports both SLI and CrossFireX as well and has SATA 3.0 on board.
The price tag of this motherboard is still unknown but expect it not to cost very much either. With this being said and done, we find that this motherboard to be a good choice for those that wants to create a HTPC. However, you might want to find a good and quiet cooling solution as well because desktops are notoriously known for their noisy performance.
