Ouya Update: XBMC Support Added


The prospective Ouya Android gaming console is beefing up its media and entertainment support now adding XBMC and TuneIn to a growing list of features for the open gaming console. Expect Ouya to come with a customized interface that is well tied down to the hardware. A rich harvest of free games will be there along with media and entertainment support.

More Media Support

XBMC is a popular open source media player app while TuneIn is a radio service that has about 7000 stations and over 2 million on-demand programs spread across 230 countries. The XBMC developer team has decided to support Ouya prototypes will be given to the XBMC team for ensuring bugfree support.

Ouya has been going on remarkably well the Kickstarter funding project is finishing soon and has accumulated about $6.9 million from over 52,000 members. These contributing members will receive small consoles with a wireless controller running on a Tegra 3 quad core processor and a customized interface.

OnLive, a streaming game company, will support Ouya when it will be launched. Square Enix has also come with an offer; to spice up the Android based gaming console gadgets with the Final Fantasy III among other titles.
