After LG, it is now Samsung’s turn to introduce 4K TV. The company plans to introduce this UHD TV in upcoming CES 2014 which will be held in January. This television set will also have a curved display screen and is tentatively being referred to only as UHD TV.
Samsung is claiming that this TV set includes “Quadmatic Picture Engine”. This feature can transform images from any content into UHD quality pictures.
One of the much talked about feature of UHD TV is the resolution of its screen. This screen will have a resolution of 5120 x 2160 which is considerably higher when compared to standard resolution of 4K television sets. Normally, a 4K or UHD television has a resolution of 3840 x 2160. Consequent to such high resolution, UHD TV’s screen boasts of an aspect ratio of 21:9, and 11 million pixels. In comparison, screens of standard ultra-high definition television sets as well as 1080p screens have an aspect ratio of 16:9, and 8 million pixels.
LG is also planning to launch its 105UB9 4K high definition television set at the same gadgets event. Specifications of LG’s product are no different from those of Samsung’s UHD TV. Given such similarities, it will be difficult for the market to decide which of the two to select. It remains to be seen if Quadmatic Picture Engine can tilt the balance in favor of Samsung.
