Samsung has started accepting preorders for its updated high end ultrabook, the Ativ Book 9 Plus. Highlights of this notebook include a high resolution touchscreen and Corei7 processor. Samsung intends to start shipping the ordered gadgets with effect from November first week.
The touchscreen of Ativ Book 9 Plus will have considerably higher resolution than that of Toshiba’s Kirabook. Kirabook rules this segment of gadgets as of now with its 13.3 inch display that has a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The updated Ativ Book 9 will also be 0.54 inch in thickness, and weigh about 3.06 pounds like the existing Ativ Book 9, which runs on Core i5-4200U processor. This notebook will have a camera of 720 pixels apart from a memory card reading feature capable of reading multiple formats. According to Samsung, the batteries of this laptop can hold a charge that will last for almost seven and a half hours.
The processor integrated in upgraded version of Ativ Book 9 is Core i7-4500U, which is also an Intel product but offers more speed when compared to the previous processor. This updated version will have memory of 8GB, which is almost double that of the existing Ativ Book 9 Core i5. Storage included in this new version is solid sate 256GB, which is again double that of the existing model.
The networking abilities of this notebook are also enhanced by including Wi-Fi adapter of 802.11 a/b/g/n range. Ethernet that is gigabit wired is included. This feature is provided with the help of a dongle. Two USB 3.0 ports and a micro HDMI-out are also included in the new Samsung Ativ Book 9 Core i7 notebook.
The product will give a stiff competition to Toshiba’s Kirabook, which is priced at $2000 as of now. Samsung is selling this new product for $1799, which is slightly higher than the price of its existing model of Ativ Book 9. Ativ Book 9 with Core i5 processor in it is available for $1399.
