Acer Icona Smart is a Smartphone based on Android Gingerbread, built around a wide-screen format that gives to the entire device a full elongated profile.
The screen is very small, 4.8-inch diagonal, 19:9 aspect ratio, pushed the final length of the case to 14.1 cm, a record range for the Smartphone devices. By contrast, housing width is only 6.45 cm and 1.36 cm thick.
The capacitive TFT screen can display 16 million colors and a resolution of 480 x 1024 pixels, good only for feature films, browse lists of contacts, text messages and articles from your favorite websites. Acer Iconia Smart is customized with Acer UI 4.2 and has accessories such as proximity sensor for auto-off display, accelerometer for auto-rotation sensor, touch-sensitive buttons and multitouch interface for complex commands made through the touch screen.
Its configuration includes a 1 GHz processor, 512 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM, 8 GB of storage and micro SDHC card slot with support for capacities up to 32GB. Internet access can be provided by 3G HSDPA (14.4 Mbps) or 802.11n Wi-Fi interface, while connecting various accessories we have available a Bluetooth 2.1 module with EDR and A2DP support.
On the back of the phone we find a 8 MP camera, equipped with autofocus assisted by a LED flashlight. Apart from pictures, it also allows video capture at 720p resolution. Above the screen we find a front room with 2 MP resolution, useful for video calls.
Iconia Smart weighs 185 grams and is powered by a rechargeable Li-Polymer of 1500 mAh.
Acer Iconia Smart will arrive first in Germany, where it can be purchased for $499 euros. Unfortunately for the rest of the world the release date is not yet known.
