Lenovo presents LePhone S2 and LePad tablet

At an event held in Beijing, Lenovo has introduced a new tablet and smartphone, all based on different versions of the Android operating system.

Lenovo LePhone S2 is a 3.8-inch screen smartphone, which reaches 800 x 480 pixels resolution.

With a Snapdragon MSM8255 processor, single-core model clocked at 1.4 GHz. LePhone S2 is available in two versions, with different levels of equipment – 512 MB RAM and 8 GB internal storage and 1 GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory. Strangely, none of the versions do not offer memory card slot, so we will have to deal with the factory installed memory and cloud storage service offered free from Lenovo. It provides not less than 200 GB additional storage space, accessible via internet connection.

The multimedia section, references LePhone S2 with a 8 MP camera able to shoot at 720p resolution.

Lenovo LePhone S2 has not yet received an exact release date, but it seems that the purchase price revolves around the amount of $470.

Lenovo LePad S2005 is caught somewhere in the middle, between the world of smartphones and tablets. The model uses the same platform as LePhone S2, but is equipped with a 5-inch screen optimized for multimedia. Unfortunately the resolution of 800 x 480 pixels is a bit small for such a large screen, giving the impression of a rather oversized mobile phone and not a tablet in the true sense of the word.

In terms of hardware LePad S2005 is slightly better, replacing the single-core processor with dual-core model at 1.2 GHz, powerful enough to allow video capture at 1080p. Unfortunately, the 8 MP camera left a less expensive place, of 5 MP. We have in turn part of a front camera with 1.3 MP resolution, which we can use it one videoconferencing sessions.

The case is 9.95mm thick, LePad S2005 managed to accommodate a connector and a microUSB microHDMI, we can access the internal memory of 1 GB amount.

Lenovo did not disclose the purchase price and the date on which we can find the new tablets in stores, but promised that both models will eventually receive Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich after the update packages will be completed.
