In addition to photos, Xperia ion HSPA can shoot at 1080p resolution and allows video calling at High Definition (possible using the front camera of 1.3 MP).

It’s dimensions are 133 x 68 x 10.8 mm and weights 144 grams, has a chipset with dual-core processor at 1.5 GHz, Adreno 220 GPU respectively. We have 16 GB of internal storage and microSD slot and 1 GB RAM. The TFT screen with resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels features multitouch interface and is protected by a shield resistant at scratches.

On the connectivity part there is 3G HSDPA support (up to 21.1 Mbps), Bluetooth 2.1 module and WiFi N (Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA and Wi-Fi hotspot). List of facilities includes a A-GPS receiver with GLONASS, respectively the FM radio with RDS decoder.

Battery with a capacity of 1900 mAh is rated for about 4 hours talk time in 3G (10 hours with 2G networks) and 350 hours standby (400 hours with 2G networks).  Unfortunately the operating system supplied is the old Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Sony promises, however, that will provide update to version Ice Cream Sandwich, in the end.

Sony Xperia ion HSPA could start first in the UK, with a sale price still unidentified.
