The updated Flipboard does support the retina display, but many photos in the latest edition look unsharp — VERY unsharp. The images look as if they have been scaled using an algorithm that goes too far in smoothing critical edge details. Photographs for other Websites, such as “The Big Picture” or Apps like Life Magazine are noticeably sharper on the new iPad. The new Flipboard “retina” edition needs more work.
