Lenovo’s Window 8.1 Miix 2 Tablet Arrives with a Price Tag of $299


Lenovo Mix 2Though a tad late, Lenovo has joined the party of Windows 8.1 tablets with its 8 inch Miix2 tablet. This Lenovo product is comparable to Dell’s Venue 8 Pro, and Acer Iconia W3. The launch price of Lenovo Miix2 is $299, making it one of the most affordable high end tablets.


Lenovo Miix2 has an 8 inch display screen. This is an IPS touchscreen with resolutions of 1280 x 800 pixels. People can also spend another $20 to purchase a protective cover for this touchscreen. A stylus has been added to this tablet from Lenovo. Overall size of Lenovo Miix 2 is 8.48 inches x 5.18 inches x 0.33 inch. This gadget weighs only 12.3 ounces. In comparison most other gadgets of the same category are heavier. Miix 2 comes with 2 cameras. The camera on its front is 2-MP while that on its rear is 5-MP.


This tablet also has better connectivity because it includes Bluetooth 4.0, and all varieties of Wi Fi bandwidths, i.e., 802.11 b/g/n. In addition, it has the 3G broadband mobile networking with GPS 3 or Global Positioning System 3 integrated in it. The tablet has 2GB RAM, a Quad-core processor of Intel Bay Trail-T and the operating system on which this tablet will run is the Windows 8.1. In addition, Microsoft Student 2013 and Home are preloaded in this tablet.

The battery life of Lenovo’s Miix2 will be approximately 7 hours with every charge. The $299 model of Lenovo Miix2 will come with storage of 32 GB. Lenovo is also introducing the $249 model of the same product with flash memory of 64 GB.

When specifications and features do not vary much, people prefer to stick to brand name. This is what will happen to Lenovo Miix2. Perhaps its superior connectivity, affordability, and Windows 8.1 will help it nudge its competitors. It is obvious that the product targets students.
